Lake Tahoe

Coyote I definitely do not take many "wildlife" photos, BUT, this moment I couldn't pass on nor could I truly believe it! I saw what I thought was a dog digging at the ground. The closer I got, I knew this was no dog. But he didn't scare off like a normal wild animal would, probably because more & more people are around his natural habitat. Twice he moved around in somewhat of a circle, stopped & just looked at me - this was one of those moments. Not sure if he was curious, hungry or posing for the photo, but definitely one of my all time favorite moments & photos!

Virginia Lakes - Lake Tahoe

Virginia Lakes This was one of 2 Virginia Lakes my friend Bryan & I stopped at. The snow topped mountains, the sky, clouds, sun reflecting off the water & it began to snow - it just couldn't get more scenic (or better) than that!

Lake Tahoe

Fir tree One of my favorite trees in the world, also found in Lake Tahoe, is the Fir Tree. I was hiking along a trail when deep in the woods I could just barely see this amazing "green color", mainly due to the morning light & the dampness. I knew I had to get closer to get a better view. It was amazingly majestic & just stood there in awe... (& took a bunch of photos) I had truly stumbled upon this hidden treasure...

Lake Tahoe

Road through mountains & sky Once again proving that one cannot take a bad picture anywhere in the scenic lands of Tahoe. Fall colors, dramatic sky & mountains all met along this road - loved it!

Lake Tahoe

Stones & sky 1B As I have said about many of the places I have gone, you just can't take a bad photo. Tahoe is everything I love; big rocks, big lake, big mountains & big sky (not to mention great friends! :)

Welcome to Found Art...

Found_art_logo_4_copy Hi and Welcome to "Found Art." My name is Tom J Deters and I want to thank you for visiting my site and hope you enjoy my work. My wish is that my art makes you feel a sense of calm, peace and tranquility. It did for me while I was creating it. I live in California and create mainly on the West Coast (or wherever I can!) I feel very blessed for the opportunity to create in such a beautiful environment, in God's art; Nature. This adds to my sense of peace, clarity, and to my work as well. This site is also a work in progress, so please keep visiting for new photos and upcoming shows. For ordering information, please see the "ordering & pricing" photo along the left margin of the page or simply contact me via my email: tomjdeters@gmail.com

8 Stone Stacks

8_rock_stacks_1As well as the physical challenge of stacking stones, I love to do multiple rock stacks. They are all individual sculptures to me, but they make an even grander statement all together. Especially for those who stumble upon a rock point on the beach filled with rock stacks, wondering how they are balanced & who did it... :) I made a total of 13 rock stacks that day, but could only fit these 8 in a cool photo.

2 Silhouette Stone Stacks

5_smooth_stack_1aI have always loved how smooth, round, stones balanced, looked.  Even better when the backdrop is the beautiful blue ocean & sky. What I loved about these two were that they were both silhouettes of rock stacks. To me, there is a real mood to these photos, real Zen & calm...

Big Grey Rock

Big_grey_rock_1Every so often I "stumble" upon a true challenge, this was one of those moments! I specifically went out this trip to not kill myself trying to balance a huge stone. Like I stated, I stumbled upon this huge Grey rock & knew I had to "try". There was a little cave behind it & I thought if I could clean out the rocks from the cave & balance this huge rock it would be awesome! Well, it took almost an hour & it truly was awesome! It was actually better in person, when you walked by it really stood out, the size of the rock & it standing on end perched out in front of this little cave that seemed to "frame" it. I guess the moment was better than the photo, but wanted to share it anyways...

One Stone, One Surfer

1_stone_1_surfer_1Very simple, very clean & I love it! I love the Zen, peaceful balancing stone & the tranquil surfer in the background. Both things I love & love them even more when I can "capture" a moment with them both... :)
